Every year, the first weekend of November looks the same here in Northern Colorado:
Halloween costumes are stuffed back into the bin. Candy is hidden on a shelf high enough to be out of reach for the children, but not too high to be out of reach for the adults. Jack-o’-lanterns slowly start caving in.
Most of those pumpkins end up in the trash.
But we think Mother Earth deserves better.
Where it started
For the past few years, we've trailer in front of our house the weekend after Halloween. We hung a banner on the side, and neighbors tossed their pumpkins. Then we sent every one of them to a local farm, where the pigs indulge in a candy of their own.
It was simple. It was a little silly. And it quickly became one of our favorite things we do.
Because here's what we noticed. People didn't just drop and go. They stayed. They chatted. Kids wanted to see the trailer fill up. Neighbors who had waved at each other for years finally learned each other's names. And at the end of the day, a local farm was spoiled with the generosity of a giving community.
This year, we're going bigger
Pumpkins for Pigs is moving from our driveway to Trailside South Park in Timnath. The trailer will be on-site from Saturday, Nov 7 at 9 am Sunday, Nov 8 to 2 PM. Drop by any time.
We’ll be on-site Saturday, Nov 7 from 9 am to 12-noon handing out swag bags with over $700 in goodies from local businesses.
Why does a real estate team cares about pumpkins?
Fair question.
We've always believed real estate is about more than buying or selling. It's about belonging. It's about knowing your neighbors, loving where you live, and feeling like part of something bigger than yourself.
A house becomes home when the community around it is rich with connection.
So this is us, putting our money where our mouth is. Not to sell anything. Just to haul some pumpkins, feed some pigs, and spend a chilly November morning with the people who make Northern Colorado feel like home.
A big thank-you
We couldn't do this without Team Dabney with Bank of Colorado and Caleb Colon with Northern Colorado Junk Removal. Good people, doing good work. We're grateful.
We'll see you at the park!
With Gratitude, Brennen & Lauren Salz
